Helpful Tips to Quit Smoking Pot

For several reasons, people smoke marijuana or pot but because this drug is illegal, it is important to learn methods to quit smoking pot.  Now, there are cases where people are actually prescribed pot to help with a number of illnesses such as Multiple Sclerosis.  Studies have been done that show when used for health reasons, marijuana is highly effective, but for people who smoke this drug simply for recreational reasons, it should stop.

Another tip to quit smoking pot is to use the weaning method.  With this, rather than go cold turkey the amount and frequency of marijuana being smoked would slowly be reduced.  Setting a goal for one to two months is recommended and with determination, this method can be more successful than trying to stop all at once.  Of course, the person needs to be patient and at a point of truly wanting to quit.

Meditation is also a great way to quit smoking pot.  Often, the reason that many people smoke marijuana is to calm the mind.  In fact, doctors, lawyers, and business executives use pot to clear the mind after working a demanding job all day.  Because of this, something has to take the place of the pot for the process of quitting to work.  The great thing about meditation is that it could be in several forms such as Yoga, Tai Chi, prayer, visualization, etc.  The individual would simply need to try a few to find what works best.

Finally, if an individual really wanted to quit smoking pot but none of the mentioned methods worked, rehabilitation is always an option.  People should never feel embarrassed or ashamed about entering rehab in that millions of people deal with drug addiction.  For this, it would be imperative to choose a rehabilitation center that focuses on marijuana addiction and has a record of successfully treating patients.
